Position: Security Guard (X75 Posts)

• Salary Range: R155,148 – R182,757 per annum (Salary Level 03)

Minimum Requirements

To qualify for the role of Security Guard, applicants must meet the following criteria:

• Completion of a Basic Security Course.
• Minimum education: Grade 10.
• Skills and Knowledge:
  • Strong communication and customer care abilities.
  • Understanding of Public Service principles.
  • Knowledge of access control procedures and methods for monitoring the movement of equipment and supplies.
  • Awareness of prescribed security protocols and the authority of security officers.
  • Basic understanding of school safety policies.
• Personal Attributes:
  • Accountability and responsibility.
  • Patience and a willingness to support learners unconditionally.
  • Commitment to promoting the rights and welfare of children.

Key Responsibilities

As a Security Guard, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and security of school grounds, staff, learners, and visitors. Duties include:

• Monitoring and identifying officers, employees, learners, and visitors.
• Patrolling school buildings, grounds, and fenced areas.
• Escorting visitors to the premises, when necessary.
• Enforcing school safety policies in coordination with the School Management Team (SMT).
• Operating access control measures:
  • Issuing and retrieving visitor control cards.
  • Maintaining visitor registers.
  • Inspecting supplies, articles, and objects before entry.
• Reporting incidents such as theft, breakages, or property damage to the principal or SMT.
• Assisting learners by fostering a safe and supportive environment.
