Position Overview

• Job Title: General Worker (49 Posts)
• Salary: R 155,148 – R 182,757 per annum (Salary Level 03)

Minimum Requirements

To qualify for this position, candidates must meet the following requirements:

• A Grade 9 certificate or school-leaving certificate, along with a testimonial from the principal.
• Prior experience with PEYI will be considered an advantage.
• Strong communication skills with a willingness to work in an inclusive and respectful environment.
• Knowledge of Public Service principles emphasizing respect, dignity, and inclusivity.
• Ability to maintain the privacy and respect the personal choices of learners.

Key Responsibilities

The role focuses on providing essential care and support for learners with special needs. Responsibilities include:

Personal Care for Learners

• Assist with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
• Provide mobility support and help with assistive devices.
• Ensure learners are comfortable, safe, and well-positioned.

Laundry Services

• Handle the washing, drying, and folding of learners’ clothes and personal items.

Kitchen Services

• Prepare and cook nutritious meals suited to learners’ dietary needs.
• Ensure cleanliness and organization in the kitchen and dining areas.

Support Learners’ Welfare

• Maintain a caring, respectful, and inclusive environment for learners with disabilities.
