Govan Mbeki Local Municipality is looking for qualified applicants to fill 34 Meter Reader positions. The deadline for all applications is 7th March 2025.
Position Details:
- Post Title: Meter Reader

Requirements:
- Grade 12 or equivalent qualification.
- Computer literacy.
- Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
- Ability to speak at least two official languages (English and IsiZulu).
- Physically fit, as the role involves walking to various meters.
- Previous meter reading experience is an advantage.
- Must be willing to work in all weather conditions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Read and record water and electrical meters based on assigned routes using prescribed devices or templates.
- Ensure that meter readings are accurate and correct.
- Complete readings within the set deadlines.
- Verify that the meter addresses match the house number and street name.
- Identify and report meters not listed in the reading sheets.
- Report illegal connections and any abnormalities near meters.
- Record and report faulty meters.
- Deliver municipal accounts to customers.
