About the Internship Program:

The HSRC Internship Programme offers 250 internship opportunities in various fields, including Science, Engineering, Technology (SET), Humanities and Social Sciences (HSS), and Research, Development, and Innovation. This program is designed to provide graduates with practical work experience while contributing to the National System of Innovation (NSI).

Key Benefits:

• Work Experience: Interns will receive mentoring and hands-on experience in research management, support, and administration.
• Skills Development: Interns will acquire essential skills, improve employability, and gain exposure to the sector.
• Contribution to Research: Interns will contribute to the development of the NSI by supporting ongoing projects.

Eligibility Criteria:

To qualify for this internship program, candidates must meet the following criteria:

• Citizenship: South African citizens or permanent residents (with a valid South African Identity Document).
• Age: Applicants must be 35 years or younger at the time of appointment.
• Qualification: Hold a qualification at NQF level 7 or above (Bachelor’s, Honours, Master’s, etc.) in a relevant field such as SET, HSS, or Research Development and Innovation.
• Employment Status: Applicants must be currently unemployed and have completed their studies by the time of application.

Host Institutions:

Interns will be placed in various research institutions and public higher education institutions. These institutions are committed to providing mentoring and ensuring that interns have the necessary resources and infrastructure to thrive.
