Key Responsibilities
Operational Duties:
- Ensure the safety of flights in a timely manner.
- Monitor the aircraft’s flight path and systems.
- Perform pre-flight, in-flight, and post-flight checks and procedures.
- Communicate effectively with internal teams, external service providers, and passengers.
- Navigate and operate flights in compliance with aviation regulations and company policies.
- Maintain FlySafair’s competitive edge by delivering excellent customer service.
- Complete and submit all legal and administrative documentation accurately.
In-Flight Responsibilities:
- Perform or oversee normal, abnormal, and emergency checklists as per the Operations Manual.
- Monitor all aspects of the flight, including flight instrument indications and navigation, and promptly report deviations or abnormal readings to the Captain.
- Conduct radio and telecommunication (R/T) communications when required.
Pre-Flight Responsibilities:
- Familiarize yourself with the planned flight route, briefing sheets, and weather conditions.
- Review documentation with the Captain, ensuring informed decisions regarding fuel, alternates, and restrictions.
Post-Flight Responsibilities:
- Complete all post-flight procedures in accordance with the Operations Manual (OM) and Flight Crew Operations Manual (FCOM).
- Submit necessary documentation and reports, including IQSMS.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- Grade 12 or equivalent.
- SACAA Commercial License (Essential).
- SACAA ATPL (Preferred).
- Class 1 SACAA Medical Certification (Essential).
Experience and Skills:
- Boeing type-rated experience (Advantageous).
- Over 1,500 flight hours, including 500 hours of multi-turbine time (Essential).
- Multi-crew experience (Essential).
- Experience on commercial jets over 20 tons (Advantageous).
Additional Requirements:
- No criminal record or medical conditions.
- Willing to sign training bonds and undergo drug and alcohol testing.
- Valid RSA passport and driver’s license.
- Own reliable transport.
- SA citizenship with proof of identity.
Knowledge and Attributes
Knowledge:
- Detailed understanding of SACAA, ICAO, and other national aviation regulations.
- Familiarity with Commercial and Airline Transport Pilot licensing requirements.
- Knowledge of Doc 8186 is essential.
