Eligibility Criteria
Qualifications
- A qualification in one of the following fields: Law, Public Management, Public Administration, Policing, Criminology, Forensics, or Criminal Justice (NQF level 6) as recognized by SAQA.
Experience
- Minimum of 2 years in a law enforcement environment.
Knowledge Requirements
- In-depth understanding of the Immigration Act, Refugees Act, Criminal Procedure Act, and related regulations.
- Familiarity with international treaties and relevant government frameworks.
Additional Requirements
- Driver’s License (Code EC) with a valid Public Driver Permit (PDP).
- Willingness to travel, including internationally.
- Availability to work extended hours.

Job Responsibilities
Law Enforcement Duties
- Monitor and investigate illegal immigration cases in accordance with the Immigration Act No. 13 of 2002.
- Oversee the arrest, detention, and deportation of illegal foreigners.
- Investigate human trafficking and the production of fraudulent documents.
- Collaborate with other law enforcement agencies to combat illegal migration.
Operational Management
- Supervise and guide staff on compliance with legal frameworks.
- Ensure proper documentation for foreigners residing in South Africa.
- Facilitate court proceedings and disciplinary inquiries related to immigration cases.
- Maintain and operate departmental tools, including heavy-duty vehicles, as per policy.
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Work with internal and external stakeholders to verify identities and manage compliance.
- Represent the Department in security cluster forums and case flow management meetings.
