• Salary: R366,144 per year

Purpose of the Role:

As an Artisan Welder, you will be responsible for welding and fabrication maintenance and repairs across six network regions, including five EM Depots, Telemetry, Metering, Minor Plant, Electrical sections, Reservoir sites, and Sewer pump stations.

You will also be tasked with manufacturing standard and nonstandard reticulation components in the Welding Workshop.

Key Responsibilities:

• Complete work orders, check sheets, and overtime sheets before the end of your shift.
• Submit vehicle inspection sheets and logbooks weekly.
• Maintain safety and compliance with OHASA and J.W. codes of practice.
• Inspect welding equipment and report defects.
• Perform repairs and installation of various components, including Y-pieces, T-pieces, collars, spool pieces, manhole covers, sewer baskets, and more.
• Supervise subordinates to achieve section goals.
• Assist contractors with network site tasks.
• Handle rigging and lifting of large and heavy pipes and components.
• Perform emergency repairs and respond to breakdowns as needed.

Job Requirements:

• Grade 10 or N1 (NQF 2) with a Welder Trade Test certificate or an appropriate Learnership (NQF 4).
• 3 years of welding experience, especially with large-diameter pipelines.
• Experience in gas and arc welding is essential.
• Basic supervisory experience.
• A valid Code 10 driver’s license with PrDP is required.
