SAMHS Military Skills Development System (MSDS) Intake for 2026

The South African Military Health Services (SAMHS) is inviting applications for its Military Skills Development System (MSDS) intake for 2026. This program offers young South African citizens an opportunity to serve on a two-year contract, receive military training, and gain functional expertise in various health-related fields.

Eligibility Criteria

To apply for the SAMHS MSDS intake, you must meet the following requirements:

• South African Citizen (No dual citizenship).
• Age:
  • 18 to 22 years for Grade 12 applicants.
  • 18 to 26 years for applicants with a tertiary qualification or N6.
• Completed Grade 12 or equivalent.
• APS Score: 17 and above, excluding Life Orientation.
• No Criminal Record: Must have a clear criminal record and no pending cases.
• Medical Fitness: Must meet the medical fitness requirements.
• No Visible Tattoos: Tattoos on legs, lower arm, neck, and face are not permitted.
• Drug Testing & Psychometric Testing: Applicants will undergo a series of evaluations, including drug testing, psychometric tests, and verification of qualifications.

• Medical Support Operations
• Dog Handler Counter Intelligence
• Corporate Communication (Degree in Communication or related field)
• Environmental Health (Pest Control Operator)
• Musician
• Dental Assistant
• Nursing (Diploma)
• Auxiliary Nursing
• Emergency Care Assistant
• Emergency Medical Care

Each career requires specific qualifications, as outlined below:

• Emergency Medical Care:
  • Grade 12 with English Level 5, Mathematics Level 4 (No Maths Lit), Physical Science Level 4, and Life Science Level 4.
  • APS of 26.
