Job Purpose

The selected candidates will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service at the point of sale while ensuring a smooth and secure transaction process. You will record customer transactions in compliance with Dis-Chem’s operating procedures, maintaining accuracy and safeguarding against fraud.

Requirements

To qualify for this position, you must meet the following criteria:

Minimum Qualifications:

• Education: Grade 12 / Matric
• Experience: At least 6 months’ experience in cashier or till operations.
• Skills:
  • Computer literacy (MS Office)
  • Strong numerical abilities
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken)
• Availability: Must be willing to work retail hours.

Key Responsibilities

As a Cashier at Dis-Chem, you will:

• Deliver excellent customer service, adhering to company policies and procedures.
• Build professional relationships with customers.
• Report customer compliments and complaints to the Frontline Supervisor or management.
• Maintain awareness of current promotions and sales.
• Ensure compliance with Dis-Chem’s security and operational procedures.
• Process transactions, including cash, card, vouchers, and loyalty rewards.
• Scan and process all outgoing items accurately.
• Safeguard cash in the till and manage daily takings confidentially.
• Handle merchandise returns and exchanges as per policy.
• Report suspicious behavior and security risks to management.
