Gauteng City Region Academy (GCRA) Bursary Applications for 2025 Are Now Open

The Gauteng City Region Academy (GCRA) is inviting applications from eligible youth, particularly those residing in Gauteng, who wish to pursue undergraduate or postgraduate studies at accredited Post-School Education and Training (PSET) institutions in South Africa.
This bursary covers the full cost of study, subject to the conditions outlined in the bursary contract.
Who Can Apply?
Eligibility Criteria
Applications are open to the following:
- Matriculants:
- Youth who have completed matric and reside in Gauteng.
- Proof of residence is required.
- Undergraduate Students:
- Those intending to study or are already registered for an undergraduate programme at an accredited PSET institution.
- Postgraduate Students:
- Individuals accepted into a postgraduate programme at an accredited institution of higher learning.
- Top Achievers Automatically Qualify (must still complete the application):
- Top achievers from Gauteng schools.
- Top learners from no-fee-paying schools in Gauteng.
- Top 3 learners from LSEN (Learners with Special Education Needs) schools in Gauteng.
Additional Requirements
To qualify for a GCRA bursary, applicants must:
- Be a South African citizen.
- Be between the ages of 18 and 35.
- Reside in Gauteng.
Documents Required for Application
Ensure you have the following documents ready:
- Certified copy of South African ID (by birth).
- Proof of residence in Gauteng (e.g., utility bill or letter from ward councillor).
- Matric certificate or latest academic results (certified).
- Proof of income from parents/guardians (or an affidavit).
- A letter of motivation (not exceeding 2 pages).
- Proof of registration or acceptance at a PSET institution.
- Disability or medical report, if applicable.
