Purpose of the Role:
You will be responsible for the repair, maintenance, and efficient operation of mechanical plant equipment, water pump stations, and other facilities. This includes working in line with OHASA and SANS codes of practice to ensure the safety and availability of all equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform repairs and maintenance on mechanical plant and equipment such as pumps, valves, level controls, and pressure-reducing valves (PRVs).
- Execute planned maintenance based on Johannesburg Water’s schedules and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Provide emergency work support, including communicating with the Telemetry control room about callouts.
- Conduct monthly toolbox checks to ensure safety standards are met.
- Report irregular maintenance issues to the Operations Manager.
- Assist in job planning and performance improvements for pump stations and reservoirs.
- Fill in work orders, check sheets, and overtime sheets before the end of each shift.
- Complete vehicle inspection sheets and logbooks daily, submitting them weekly to the Operations Manager.
- Submit petrol slips monthly as per the company vehicle policy.
- Manage subordinates and ensure effective teamwork.
Job Requirements:
- Minimum qualification: Grade 10 or N1 (NQF 2) + Fitter trade test certificate/appropriate Learnership (NQF 4).
- At least 3 years of experience with pumps, valves, hydraulic level controls, and PRVs.
- Basic supervisory experience is required.
- Valid code EB Driver’s licence.
