Position Details
Job Title: Customer Services Agent

- Location: Brackenfell, Cape Town
- Work Schedule: 45-hour work week, shift-based (Monday to Sunday, including public holidays, as per legislative requirements).
Job Purpose
The Customer Services Agent plays a key role in delivering an exceptional customer experience by answering queries, resolving issues, and providing accurate product and service information. This role supports the company’s frontline operations, ensuring all customer concerns are addressed promptly and professionally while contributing to a culture of service excellence.
Key Responsibilities
1. Customer Interaction
- Deliver outstanding customer service and foster a culture of service excellence.
- Manage incoming customer calls, providing clear communication and accurate information.
- Resolve emerging customer issues with urgency and empathy.
- Provide proactive support in urgent or emergency situations following established guidelines.
2. Escalations and Updates
- Timely escalation of unresolved issues and keeping customers informed about the progress.
- Ensure all service level targets are met or exceeded.
3. Knowledge and Development
- Stay updated on company performance requirements, products, campaigns, and processes.
- Actively seek personal and team development opportunities.
4. Team Collaboration
- Assist teammates with knowledge transfer or language barriers to support the team’s overall efficiency.
- Offer suggestions for continuous improvement of the customer experience.
5. Policy Adherence
- Follow all Shoprite standards, policies, and procedures while providing constructive feedback for improvements.
Qualifications and Experience
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 / Matric.
Preferred Qualifications
- Degree/Diploma or courses in Communications or a related field.
Experience
- At least 5 years of experience in a customer service or similar role.
- Experience in a retail or contact centre environment is highly advantageous.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office 365, including SharePoint Online.
