Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must meet the following requirements to qualify for the role:
- Education: Grade 12 certificate.
- Certifications:
- Security Officer Certification (Grade B) with registration under PSIRA.
- Grade A Certification (preferred but not mandatory).
- Additional Skills:
- Computer literacy (MS Office).
- Valid driver’s license.
- First Aid Level 1 (preferred).
- Safety or Emergency Response Training (desirable).
Minimum Experience
- Experience Required: 2-3 years of work as a security officer, preferably in a refinery, manufacturing plant, or mining environment.
Key Responsibilities
As a Security Officer, your primary duties will include:
- Conducting patrols of industrial and commercial premises to prevent and detect intrusions or violations.
- Monitoring doors, windows, and gates to ensure security.
- Responding to alarms and investigating disturbances.
- Operating detection devices to screen individuals and prevent the passage of prohibited items into restricted areas.
- Monitoring and adjusting building systems such as air conditioning and furnaces.
- Inspecting and adjusting security systems to detect tampering.
- Monitoring and controlling the entrance and exit of employees, visitors, and other persons to guard against theft and ensure premises security.
- Enforcing COVID-19 regulations and screening all employees and visitors before entry.
- Writing detailed reports on daily activities and irregularities, such as theft, property damage, or unauthorized persons.
- Acting as a backup receptionist, answering and transferring calls.
- Coordinating with police or fire departments in emergencies, such as fire or unauthorized access.
