Minimum Requirements
To qualify for this role, you need:
- Matric Certificate (Grade 12).
- Traffic Officer’s Diploma.
- Valid Driver’s License (Code B/C/C1/EB/EC/EC1).
- 1-year experience in traffic law enforcement.
- Registration as a Traffic Officer (attach proof).
- Clean criminal record with no pending cases.
Key Skills
- Good record-keeping and resource management.
- Knowledge of road traffic and public transport regulations.
- Ability to complete law enforcement documents.
- Experience with vehicle inspections and impoundment.
- Understanding of the Firearms and Ammunition Act.
- Strong observation, driving, and negotiation skills.
- Conflict resolution and communication in at least two official provincial languages.
Job Responsibilities
Law Enforcement
- Enforce road traffic and transport laws.
- Conduct planned traffic operations.
- Ensure smooth traffic flow in congested areas.
- Manage accident scenes and assist with investigations.
Compliance and Control
- Identify and report hazardous locations.
- Execute arrests and issue traffic violation notices.
- Escort abnormal loads and enforce overload control regulations.
Vehicle and Driver Checks
- Verify driver details and toll payments.
- Confiscate unauthorized tags or equipment.
- Issue toll infringement notices.
- Conduct roadworthy checks on motor vehicles.
