Operating Model Entity (OME): Mining

Role and Purpose

As a General Worker, you will assist the Maintenance Team by performing tasks that support equipment maintenance, welding, fitting, and electrical operations. You will ensure procedures are followed to maintain equipment reliability and sustainability.

For the Directional Drilling General Worker role, you will provide support to the Directional Drilling Team to enhance operations and sustainability while adhering to safety and operational procedures.

Key Responsibilities

General Tasks:

• Perform welding tasks on mining equipment using flux core and other methods.
• Safely operate welding equipment.
• Use oxy-fuel gas cutting tools for material cutting and pre-heating while following safety guidelines.
• Operate overhead cranes and lifting equipment according to safe practices.
• Complete job-specific tasks and checklists accurately.
• Conduct visual inspections to identify and report unsafe conditions.

Safety and Compliance:

• Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Codes of Practice (COPs) to maintain housekeeping standards.
• Participate in daily team meetings to discuss tasks.
• Conduct hazard identification and task risk assessments.

Teamwork and Reporting:

• Collaborate with the team to achieve goals and meet deadlines.
• Report all completed tasks and abnormalities.
• Support artisans with day-to-day tasks.

Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

• Grade 12/N3/NCV Level 4 or equivalent (Mathematics and Science are advantageous).
• Valid driver’s license (Code 08 or higher).
• Medical fitness certificate eligibility.

Desired Skills and Experience:

• 12 months of welding experience.
• Ability to use an angle grinder and cutting torch.
• Familiarity with underground machinery (e.g., Shuttle Car, Roof Bolter, Crushers, Feeder Breaker).
• Plant experience (preferred).
• MIG welding experience (preferred).
• First Aid Certificate (advantageous).
