Purpose of the Role

The role involves processing accounting transactions to prepare financial statements compliant with GRAP standards.

Key tasks include reconciling accounts, managing accounts payable and receivable, revenue, assets, and external reporting. You will also evaluate internal controls and drive policy compliance with GRAP and PFMA standards.

Responsibilities

• Draft standard operating procedures (SOPs) for key functions.
• Review internal controls and address gaps to align with statutory requirements.
• Perform general financial and audit-related administrative tasks.
• Prepare year-end financial statements, lead schedules, and reconciliations.
• Apply retrospective corrections to prior period errors.

Qualifications and Experience

• Minimum Qualification:
  • A 3-year National Diploma or bachelor’s degree in accounting (NQF 6/7).
  • A postgraduate qualification (CTA) at NQF 8 is an advantage.
• Experience:
  • Completion of 3-year SAICA articles.
  • GRAP or IFRS experience is essential.
  • Post-articles experience is an added benefit.

Technical Competencies

• Proficiency in GRAP or IFRS standards.
• Strong analytical skills and business writing abilities.
• Knowledge of PFMA, Treasury regulations, and risk management.
• Understanding and implementation of internal controls.
