Job Responsibilities:

As a First Officer at FlySafair, you will be expected to:

Operations:

• Ensure the safety of flights in a timely and efficient manner.
• Monitor the flight path and aircraft systems during the flight.
• Perform pre-flight, in-flight, and post-flight checks and procedures.
• Communicate effectively with internal departments, external service providers, and passengers.
• Navigate and operate the aircraft in compliance with regulations and company policies.
• Maintain excellent customer service standards.
• Submit accurate and complete legal administrative documentation.
• In the event of the Captain’s incapacitation, assume command and ensure the flight’s safe continuation.

Pre-Flight Duties:

• Be fully aware of the flight route, briefing sheets, weather forecasts, and runway conditions at the destination and alternate aerodromes.
• Review all necessary documents with the Captain to make informed decisions on fuel selection, alternates, and any restrictions.

In-Flight Responsibilities:

• Monitor and execute normal, abnormal, and emergency checklists as outlined in the Operations Manual.
• Continuously check flight instruments and ensure the aircraft follows the planned flight path.
• Communicate via radio as needed and immediately notify the Captain of any issues.

Post-Flight Duties:

• Complete post-flight procedures as per the Operations Manual and submit relevant reports (e.g., IQSMS).

Job Requirements:

• Grade 12 or equivalent qualification.
• SACAA Commercial Pilot License (Essential).
• SACAA ATPL (Preferred).
• Class 1 SACAA Medical (Essential).
• Type rated on Boeing (Advantageous).
• Experience with Commercial Jets over 20 tons (Advantageous).
• Minimum 1500 flight hours, including 500 hours of multi-turbine time (Essential).
• Multi-crew experience (Essential).
• No medical conditions affecting the ability to perform the job.
• Willingness to sign applicable training bonds.
• No criminal record; willingness to undergo drug and alcohol testing.
• Valid RSA driver’s license and own transport.
• South African Citizen with proof of identity.
• Valid RSA Passport.
• Willingness to work irregular hours on a roster.
• Knowledge of National Aviation regulations (SACAA, ICAO) and commercial airline pilot licensing content.
