Job Purpose

The role of the Dispatcher is to oversee and coordinate mining production operations and in-shift activities using advanced systems to ensure optimal production performance.


Job Responsibilities

Operational Monitoring

  • Ensure adherence to all health and safety practices and requirements.
  • Monitor equipment utilisation and maintenance processes to ensure optimal availability during shifts.
  • Manage and oversee in-shift mining production activities to enhance operational efficiency.

Shift Handover and Data Accuracy

  • Manage the shift handover process to minimise inefficiencies.
  • Monitor and validate data captured by operators and system event logs to ensure accuracy and integrity.

Equipment and Support Monitoring

  • Monitor secondary (support) equipment utilisation to ensure optimal production support.
  • Ensure accurate loading using HPGPS systems such as Provision, MineWare Guided Spotting, and MineCare.
  • Manage maintenance activities and ensure equipment availability during shifts.

System Optimisation and Reporting

  • Optimise equipment fuel levels and distribute shift reports.
  • Assign drills, loading tools, and material grades accurately throughout the shift.
  • Set optimisation parameters (e.g., material blending, truck queuing) to improve production performance.

Qualifications and Skills

Educational Requirements

  • Grade 12 Certificate / N3 Technical.
  • Relevant Higher National Qualification on NQF5 (e.g., Computer Science, IT System Support, or Mining Management).
  • Fleet Management System Certificate (Dispatch) – advantageous.
  • MS Office Suite Certification.
  • SA Driver’s License (Code B).

Skills and Knowledge

  • Knowledge of equipment capabilities and limitations.
  • Understanding of the mining lifecycle, value chain, and operational performance.
  • Proficiency with CAD systems, GPS tracking, GIS software, and automated routing.
  • Familiarity with MMS, FMS, and safety management software.
  • Knowledge of radio protocols and procedures.

Experience

  • 3-5 years of experience in mining production operations.
  • Strong understanding of operational stressors and their impact.
  • Experience in tracking production data, equipment performance, and managing personnel locations.
